Over seven years of self-employment, Mairi has developed a teaching style centred around the enjoyment of playing and learning. Her primary aim is to challenge students to improve their all-round musicianship. As such, lessons with Mairi often feature creative tasks such as composing and improvising, as well as time for personal reflection — encouraging students to develop their own ideas about the music they play and the different sounds they encounter along the way. Above all, Mairi strives to create a positive and inspiring space for all of her students as they work towards their goals. She is particularly experienced in working with children and loves sharing in their excitement when they discover something new about music, but has experience teaching at a range of ages and levels, from complete beginners to ABRSM Grade 8 standard.

Mairi is a regular teacher on the team at the Nite Piano School, and is also available for private lessons in the West End of Glasgow, or via Zoom.
